CWTS Cource: Scientometrics Using Open Data (Online, 4 Days)

This hands-on course introduces the use of open data sources such as Crossref, DataCite, ORCID, OpenAlex, and OpenCitations in scientometric analyses. Participants will explore how these sources can be used in more transparent, inclusive, and reproducible ways to support research assessment and policy. The course is co-organized by CWTS and the Curtin Open Knowledge Initiative (COKI).

Why this matters for Open Research Information:
The course aligns closely with the goals of the Open Research Information (ORI) community: using open, interoperable infrastructures to support responsible research evaluation, transparency, and digital sovereignty. This is a unique opportunity to build practical skills in querying, analyzing, and applying open metadata—foundations for a more open research ecosystem.
