In this whitepaper, Patrick Hochstenbach (Ghent University Library), Thomas van Himbergen (SURF), Laurents Sesink (SURF) and Herbert Van de Sompel (DANS) introduce the Research Contribution Claim Network — a solution that leverages the Mastodon social network to provide a trustworthy approach for automatically cataloguing non‑traditional scholarly contributions, and thereby paving the way for their inclusion in novel assessments of research impact.
Inloggen op een applicatie doe je meestal in de webbrowser, op het apparaat waarop je aan het werk bent. Sommige apparaten hebben echter maar een beperkte interface om in te kunnen loggen, zoals een VR-bril, printer of televisie. Het OAuth2-protocol ondersteunt daarom de "device code flow", waarmee het apparaat een eenmalige code toont, die je vervolgens op een ander systeem (die wel een webbrowser heeft) kunt invoeren om daar de inlog te doen. Alhoewel handig, kleven er belangrijke risico's aan deze flow waar je je bewust van moet zijn. Zo was deze week in het nieuws dat de device code flow van Microsoft actief wordt gebruikt door phishers.

Greater clarity, however, can help make the conversation more constructive.
I’m regularly asked which term fits which goal, and what exactly we mean by them. In this blog, I’ll explain the differences, how others use these terms, and why at SURF we increasingly talk about digital sovereignty and values, such as autonomy, especially in light of geopolitical tensions and dependence on big tech. It’s one perspective, certainly not the only or absolute truth, and without giving too much away: it’s a bit about words, but mostly about actions!
