The SURF Research Cloud development team has added quite a few nice features to the service, recently. Many of them were requested by the institutions that support Research Cloud with a Ontwikkel & Support contract. Here is a short overview of all things new.
SURF introduceerde op 6 februari jl. SANE in een webinar, met een demonstratie van de online omgeving, een showcase van een succesvol pilotproject en een discussie over hoe SANE jouw onderzoeksproject kan helpen.
De afgelopen maanden zijn verschillende instellingen bezig geweest met SURF om een DRE aanbesteding voor te bereiden. Naar aanleiding daarvan is een interesse peiling geweest om vast te stellen welke instellingen deel zouden willen nemen aan de aanbesteding.

Samen met de Universiteit Maastricht en het MUMC organiseert SURF op 24 mei de SURF Research Bootcamp. Het bootcamp wordt georganiseerd voor onderzoekers en onderzoeksondersteunend personeel. Een van de workshops is getiteld: Hoe kan IT je onderzoek en studiemanagement een boost geven: Workshop Ldot, een studiebeheersysteem van de Universiteit Maastricht.
Samen met de Universiteit Maastricht en het MUMC organiseert SURF op 24 mei de SURF Research Bootcamp. De bootcamp wordt georganiseerd voor onderzoekers en onderzoeksondersteunend personeel. Een onderdeel van de bootcamp is een workshop over het Personal Health Train concept. Een mooie kans om dit concept zelf uit te proberen.
SURF organiseert, op korte termijn, een informatiebijeenkomst over de aanbesteding Digital Research Environment (DRE). Naast de al geïnteresseerde instellingen willen we ook instellingen die overwegen om mee te doen aan de aanbesteding uitnodigen voor deze bijeenkomst.

On March 21st, SURF and Utrecht University organized the event “Your secrets are safe with us: Tooling for research with sensitive data” at the Utrecht University Library. The aim of this event was to provide an overview of current projects, tools, and techniques to safely work with sensitive data. Several researchers and support staff presented initiatives that all had a common goal: to make it easier for researchers to work with sensitive research data.
Together with Maastricht University and the MUMC, SURF is organising the SURF Research Bootcamp. The bootcamp is organised for researchers and research support staff. An interesting program awaits, featuring exciting hands-on workshops and an informative session.
In a research project, SURF and the University of Utrecht implemented a cloud solution for scraping particular websites. For this, we used serverless technology. In this blog post, we will present a summary of the project and some of the lessons learned.
