The Innovation Room will take place on Friday June 9th , from 9 AM – 1 PM with a lunch afterwards. Venue will be the Erasmus University College in Rotterdam.
Meet Jil. Jil is studying Psychology at the University of Amsterdam. She is into week four of her study and is scrambling to piece together her weekly tasks. After she logged in to the learning management system, she has to click her way through countless menus and switch between different websites to scrape together the information she needs. The timetable is not embedded into the LMS and only shows lectures and exams, but can't show deadlines. The weblectures can be found in a submenu of the LMS but are not clearly bound to a lecture. If she wants to start the weekly assignment, she first has to login to the digital assessment application and start to look for her assignment there.
In November 2016 and March 2017 two related special interest group Compute Resources for Life Science Research were held. With some small endeavors into federated authentication and running Jupyter notebooks on large-scale infrastructures, the focus was mostly on building and providing reproducible software stacks and compute pipelines that can also be easily deployed on remote e-infrastructures.
Het aantal diensten dat beschikbaar is via SURFconext groeit gestaag. Met steeds meer beschikbare diensten kost het steeds meer tijd om te beoordelen of deze wel of niet opengezet moeten worden voor gebruikers van een instelling. Dit kan tot gevolg hebben dat bepaalde gebruikers, bijvoorbeeld onderzoekers, geen toegang hebben tot diensten die erg nuttig zijn voor hun onderzoekswerk. Om dit probleem zoveel mogelijk voor te zijn, kunnen instellingen het beste een beleid opstellen voor het beoordelen van toegang tot federatieve diensten. In dit blog beschrijf ik enkele stappen en oplossingen die SURF heeft of gaat uitwerken die hierbij kunnen helpen.
Op woensdag 18 maart organiseerde de focusgroep digitaal toetsen van de Universiteit van Amsterdam het symposium: Fraude preventie bij digitaal toetsen. Deze middag stond in het teken van de problematiek rond het toekennen van punten aan digitaal oefenmatiaal. De centrale vraag was daarbij welk beloningsmechanisme ingezet kan worden om studenten optimaal te motiveren en geen fraude in de hand te werken.
Data zijn onmisbaar geworden om kunnen te sturen op studeergedrag, onderwijskwaliteit en op studiesucces. Hogeschool Windesheim organiseert om die reden, samen met SURFacademy, op dinsdag 13 juni een seminar over het gebruik van data in het onderwijs
