So last week the KODAK SP360 4k VR camera finally arrived. It came packed with a whole stack of mounting gear, which we won’t use, going for a tripod. And, ordered separately, a 128 GB micro SD card. Which I hope will hold 2 hours of lecture recordings. So without further ado here’s the unboxing video and the tripod setup.
The camera was not the only thing that arrived this month. Google also updated the iOS youtube app to support stereoscopic VR mode with cardboard. And our local supermarket chain announced to start selling cardboard VR sets.
Lastly ABOBE announced that VR editing features will be added to premiere pro in the next release this summer. Indeed the VR stars are aligning.
Next week we will do a test shoot and start getting in to the nitty gritty. Oh, and by now you probably have noticed I switched this blog series to English. Sorry for not doing that in the first place, but I only now realized after googling for VR video lectures that no one is publishing on this topic yet, and that the subject could be beneficial to a broader audience.
In our next blog we will be sharing our first experiences with the VR cam.
