Tijdens What’s Next @ SURFconext worden belangstellenden bijgepraat over de ontwikkelingen rondom SURFconext. De goedbezochte bijeenkomsten zijn vooral bedoeld om wensen, vragen en andere nuttige opmerkingen op te halen bij gebruikers en om de instellingen weer bij te praten over de laatste ontwikkelingen rondom SURFconext. Dat lukte tijdens de editie van woensdag 24 mei 2017 wonderwel.
Als onderwijs- en onderzoeksinstellingen hun ICT onderbrengen bij een gedeelde e-infrastructuur levert dat een flinke energiebesparing op, naar schatting wel tientallen procenten. SURF heeft de effecten van een overstap geïnventariseerd en doet enkele belangrijke aanbevelingen in het rapport Duurzaam in de e-infrastructuur.
Bij Hogeschool Rotterdam (HR) is een handreiking geschreven om docenten en docententeams op weg te helpen die willen beginnen met de invoering van blended learning. De handreiking is geschreven vanuit didactische werkvormen en toetsvormen. Daaraan zijn veel gebruikte ICT-applicaties gekoppeld. Van alle ICT-applicaties is (voor zover beschikbaar) de link naar gratis handleidingen toegevoegd. Dit alles opdat docenten zo veel mogelijk zelfstandig aan de slag kunnen met de invoering van blended learning.

We are pleased to announce the 9th CEL Innovation Room: Research on Study Succes / Online and Blended Learning.
The Innovation Room will take place on Friday June 9th , from 9 AM – 1 PM with a lunch afterwards. Venue will be the Erasmus University College in Rotterdam.
Meet Jil. Jil is studying Psychology at the University of Amsterdam. She is into week four of her study and is scrambling to piece together her weekly tasks. After she logged in to the learning management system, she has to click her way through countless menus and switch between different websites to scrape together the information she needs. The timetable is not embedded into the LMS and only shows lectures and exams, but can't show deadlines. The weblectures can be found in a submenu of the LMS but are not clearly bound to a lecture. If she wants to start the weekly assignment, she first has to login to the digital assessment application and start to look for her assignment there.
In November 2016 and March 2017 two related special interest group Compute Resources for Life Science Research were held. With some small endeavors into federated authentication and running Jupyter notebooks on large-scale infrastructures, the focus was mostly on building and providing reproducible software stacks and compute pipelines that can also be easily deployed on remote e-infrastructures.
