In januari 2021 is de EDUiLAB Innovation Room opgeleverd op de campus van Tilburg University. De EDUiLAB Innovation Room is de plek waar onderwijs en innovatie samenkomen bij Tilburg University. De Innovation Room is uitgeroepen tot winnaar van de EUNIS AV Award in de categorie ‘Best AV enabled multifunction educational space’.
Jaarlijks reikt EUNIS deze internationaal erkende prijs uit aan hoger onderwijsinstellingen die een innovatief concept weten neer te zetten. Dit jaar heeft Tilburg University gewonnen in de categorie ‘Best AV enabled multifunction educational space’, een erkenning van innovatief gebruik van audiovisuele technologie om het leren te verbeteren. Met trots heeft Tilburg University de Innovation Room gepresenteerd op het EUNIS congres. De slides van deze presentatie kun je hier downloaden.

Jaarlijks is er een internationaal congres over Innovative Learning Spaces.
De doelgroep is breed van elearningconsultant, bibliotheekmedewerker, architect, docent, opleidingsdirecteur tot facilitair medewerker.
Het congres heeft een traditie om om de 2 jaar te wisselen van locatie.
Na Praag en Barcelona was Amsterdam aan de beurt.
Vorig jaar was het congres geheel online en dit jaar hopen de organisatoren het congres in een hybride vorm te organiseren met ook deelnemers in de zaal in Amsterdam.
Op 15-17 sept 2021 wordt het congres georganiseerd in Amsterdam.
We hebben als SURF SIG Learning Spaces weer een speciale korting kunnen bedingen voor deelnemers van onze Learning Spaces community.
Dit jaar is de korting 30 % en de code die je kunt gebruiken bij de inschrijving kun je opvragen bij veugelers@uva.nl
Voor het eerst is het een 3 daags congres met de eerste dag een paar workshops,
en vervolgens 2 dagen weer een divers aanbod van sprekers zoals het gebruikelijk is bij dit congres.
Omdat het ditmaal in Amsterdam is het de kans voor Nederlandse geïnteresseerden om gemakkelijk een interessant internationaal congres te volgen.

Een paar keer per jaar verschijnt er een SURF SIG Learning Spaces nieuwsbrief naar belangstellenden die zich opgegeven hebben voor een emailbestand bij SURF.
Voor de volgers van de communitywebsite zetten we deze nieuwsbrief ook hier online. Het biedt een overzicht van wat de laatste maanden in gang gezet is binnen de community Learning Spaces aan activiteiten en kennisdeling.
The spring Media & Learning Online conference takes place on Thursday 6 May. This one day event is full of talks and discussions about topics that are of concern right now to anyone working in the higher education sector. Supporting academic staff, multimedia resource storage and re-use, podcasting, fostering active learning, tackling zoom fatigue – just some of the topics as we get together to share what we have learned about delivering media supported teaching and learning since the start of the pandemic.
One part of the day will be dedicated to discussing ideas on making online learning as engaging and interactive as possible with multimedia.
Rebecca M. Quintana from the Center for Academic Innovation at the University of Michigan in the USA and Rod Cullen & Orlagh McCabe from Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK will be giving talks packed with ideas and suggestions for you to use.
We will also be sharing what we have learned during the pandemic about how academics teach online with the help of talks by Marco Kalz from Heidelberg University of Education in Germany and Richard Beggs from the University of Ulster in the UK. ‘Zoom fatigue’ has become quite a troublesome phenomenon for many, Geraldine Fauville from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden will be providing insight into the recent Stanford study into Zoom fatigue and what causes it.
We also will be hearing what students have to make of all of this from Sarah Knight who will be sharing the findings of a very large scale study by Jisc in the UK into students’ experiences and expectations of learning online.
University service centres have had a lot to cope with as they have had to adjust their offer to meet the changing needs of academic teaching staff. They also have had to grapple with issues to do with quality as many academics learn to make their own multimedia teaching resources.
Michel Beerens from the NewMediaCentre in Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and Rich Goodman from Loughborough University in the UK will talk about their experiences in this adjustment, while Sanne Brauer from Oulu University of Applied Sciences in Finland will be talking about the campus of the future.
We also plan to talk about some of the practical issues faced in our sector like how to cope with the huge increase in multimedia storage and what types of retention, re-use and management policies and practices can be put in place to avoid data storage becoming a costly headache in the future.
Finally we are going to talk about podcasting, arguably one of the rising stars in the educational multimedia firmament. Join experts like Alexandra Mihai from the Institute for European Studies in VUB in Belgium and the podcasting teams at the Saxion Video-Unit, Saxion University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands and LIMEL, in KU Leuven in Belgium as they share their tips and suggestions for creating really effective podcasts for learning. Sinds 5 jaar is er jaarlijks een congres over Inovative Learning Spaces. De doelgroep is breed van elearningconsultant, bibliotheekmedewerker, architect, docent, opleidingsdirecteur tot facilitair medewerker.
Het congres heeft een traditie om om de 2 jaar te wisselen van locatie. Na Praag en Barcelona was in 2020 Amsterdan aan de beurt. Van de 150 internationale deelnemers kwamen er 35 uit het Nederlands talige gebied.
Het congres was ditmaal geheel online.
Er waren veel inspirerende sprekers, en ook was er ruimte voor breakoutrooms.
Het geplande fysieke bezoek aan een nieuwe multiflexibele collegezaal bij de UvA (AMC) werd nu digitaal gedaan en de deelnemers konden m.b.v. van een virtuele tour toch een indruk krijgen van deze ruimte.
Op verzoek van de SIG Learning Spaces hebben een aantal meegewerkt aan een impressie van dit congres dat hieronder vermeld staat. Het is niet verbazingwekkend dat de invloed van COVID pandemie ook doorklonk in de presentaties en de impressie van de deelnemers.
